U16'S MATCH REPORTS
HARTLEPOOL HURRICANES VS CATTERICK CRUSADERS
June 5th, 2021
First of all I would like to wish Jack 'The Tank' Walton a speedy recovery. Fingers crossed it won't be too serious and his time on the sideline won't be too long.
On a hot sunny day the middle men worked there socks off with no rest at all. There was many a hard line ran and many a big hit made on a strong physical opposition. In the Halfbacks Xander wore his kicking boots and finished the day with an 80% success rate. Captain Oliver Breeze rallied the troops round the field with precision and bagged himself a hat-trick, hopefully the first of many! On the fringes, our two centers Osea and Stephen caused massive headaches for the home side all game long and both bagged a try each for there troubles.
Callum B played his first full game and tackled and carried the ball with confidence which was a joy to see, it was easier with the sun shining and not the freezing rain he had at our first game. Ryan on the other side had to come off briefly with a bloody nose and was eager to get back on the field, there is now stopping him now! Our lone man at the back Joe showed great courage and strength in character with his effort is defence and attack, carrying the ball forward, just like in training. Overall a win that was hard fort for and was very well deserved, as a coach I am over the moon with all the effort shown by the team. Well done boys.
CRAMLINGTON ROCKETS U15 VS CATTERICK CRUSADERS
May 08, 2021
24 - 22 Final Score to Cramlington.
Firstly Rugby League is a summer sport, although you wouldn't of thought so today. Our new U16s side took to a very cold very wet game this morning, not quite gelled as a full team yet due to restrictions. However this should not be taken away from the effort and commitment shown by everyone new and old.
Our point to work on for the team is in Defence and I shall leave that there. Go foward and execution on whole we were 75% there, which for a first hit out is excellent and we can't ask for more. Some strong carries by the pack, made way for the HB paring to work their magic. 2 stand out moments for me was a brilliant break by Jo Martin on the left wing which led to a try. And for me try of the day was from Caedmon, a true wingers try off the back of a well played set and a very well weighted kick from Jo Bradley into the corner.
Just to clarify, yes sadly we lost the match and yes I called the game with 1 minute 20 seconds to play, but when you have young men freezing wet and shivering in font of you, and some even looking blue, child saftey and well being comes first in my book. Overall a huge massive thank you to Mums and Dads for making the journey, and finally to end, going off of what was on show today we can hold are heads high and be proud of a strong first hit up. Well done boys, roll on the real summer rugby!
